Hi all,

I'm considering investing in a Carsoft Diagnostic kit. Does anyone have any experience of using it? Looking around I can get a pukka kit with all the connectors and software for about £200.

Initially I need it to check out why my ABS/TCS lights are on full time, but what other stuff does it do?

Is there a better alternative system?

Cheers all, Gary

I have got carsoft 6.5 which is the older version readily available on the net if you know where to look. ;)

I use it with one of those interfaces available off fleabay which cost £30-40 and it works quite well and helped quit alot reseting erros on my old 2.8 and also resetting airbag lights for other people. You can do alot of realtime monitoring as well which can aid in diagnosing engine faults etc. Not sure what the latest version does over the one I have but it is a good piece of software.

The other alternative is the BMW software which some have managed to get working but obviously not officially available. The other route is to get a set of Peak tools but all they do is reset faults and don't monitor like carsoft does.

I'm the same as aceman with v6.5 and a connector off eBay which has worked well on all my bm's as well as the others that I have connected it to. Ideally you need a laptop with a serial port rather than a USB to serial as that doesn't tend to work. With the later version this may well be different though as I haven't checked

I have used Carsoft 6.5 for a couple of years and it works well.I have also installed INPA on my laptop but haven't used it on the Zed yet. Both of these could be picked up cheaply on Ebay.

Can someone give me a link to an eBay adaptor thingumy, or point me in the correct direction.

Just want to make sure I get the correct one...

The kit that Aceman linked to looks the same as mine. There are lots of similar on Ebay from HK,China and UK under the name PA Soft 1.3.6 which look the same and probably are the same but can't guarantee it.I suggest an email to a UK seller to clarify the exact software origin. These all need a serial port!!
