Why do they do this, just had the renewal for our Daughters TTS and was £xxx so put all the details into one of the comparison sites and a quote came back and one was from the same Co. she is with now but £150 cheaper.

Ring up her current Insurer and said what I had done and straight away the guy says 'Oh yes we will match any on-line quote from us'. Job done and saved £150 , They weren't the cheapest bust the overall was very god ie excess and other bits included.

Moral ring round and check if your current insurer will match .

I can never understand how an online quote should be cheaper. After all, a person has to operate the computer and process the paperwork and post the documents.

I'm not looking forward to my renewal in Jan as my wife bumped my other BM and is on my block policy even though it's protected I bet it goes up lots. I will have to shop round again as I do every year ! Regards John

My Insurance renewal quote was £1100 (due to it being only my second year of driving and my first car). I re-quoted on comparison on my own. £950. I then modified my exhaust £936. I then added my parents £700. Then phoned up and said my mum had a crash (silly woman hit a Bentley ;)), so took both my parents off again. Final scores on the doors £550. I call that a win :) :)

Our very own BMBabe has been doing some really good quotes through manning uk. I've got my z3 through them now and she just got my parents signed up for their xtrail. Also has both Boards Z3M and 5 series signed up over the summer.

There is a growing list of others here too!

Definitely worth a call.

Thank you @GazHyde

When are you going to make use of your track day cover?

@Mnbrennan maybe doing the one with BMWCC

It's a crazy crazy world out there. I had a similar experience to you Brian two years ago but in my case my existing company refused to match their own on line premium. If I wanted to go ahead I had to take out a new "on-line" policy. I told them how ridiculous they were and found a better quote elsewhere.

I've done this twice now Brian. They use the likes of "confused" and "go compare" but they are loss leaders. They hope you won't shop around but nowadays who doesn't? I've got a Saab 9-3 Aero twin turbo as my daily drive. The renewal was just shy of £400, confused..... £170. Crazy!

I'm with esure @BMBabe for the Zed and the Saab so should be safe hopefully. I'll be in touch next time the Zed is due.

Esure tut tut that's means you don't have track day cover to go and play with the other Zedders :(

*coughs* I have trackday cover now :D

Plus also I had a ton of aggro from my current broker (A-Plan) because I'd told them I had a stainless exhaust fitted. They wanted to know how exactly how much power it added, because it's a race car and everything now. Told her I had no idea, and that it was just an exhaust system - and the only way I could tell would be to go and get it dyno'd and that was likely to show no real change whatsoever....

Went around in circles for 15 minutes, and eventually told them to cancel the policy. Already had a new quote lined up with Jeffers ;)
