Hi folks
Don't know if this is the right section to ask in.
I have been looking for a camera in the last few weeks.
And a friend has offered me a cannon eos 50 d.will this be to complex for a novice to operate or is it with a punt.it comes with two extra lens batteries charger
All for £400.
Any camera experts your thoughts
Thanks mick

If everything is ok that is a steal. It is a very complicated camera but it has an auto mode so the camera will do everything for you. As you get on with it then you can start using the thousands of different settings etc. it is a heavy camera, and with the lenses you will need a small rucksack to carry all. Hope this helps.

What about a Panasonic bridge camera mick?

Less complex, lighter etc

Seems to get a good review - http://www.whatdigitalcamera.com/equipment/reviews/digitalslr/868/1/canon-eos-50d-review.html

In the majority of cases, Auto will usually take reasonable pics. There are loads of websites and videos if you want to dig deeper into photography

My advice - if it meets your technical requirements, hold it and take a couple of pics and make sure it feels comfortable in your hand (in the past, I've rejected cameras for not being comfy)

That is a very good price for what is essentially a semi-pro camera. As said you could initially leave it in auto mode and everything will be taken care of for you then as you get the feel of the camera and want to be a bit more adventurous you can start trying some of the manual modes. This camera will take you all the way if you want to get serious about photography but it is big and relatively heavy so can I suggest you also consider a good little compact for those occasions where you don't want to cart it around.
