Had above replaced almost a year ago by a local (Bosch) garage. Lee noticed it was leaking recently at the Z Shed. The garage has done the right thing and replaced it this morning under warranty. They did comment that the M44 engine is prone to leaking cam cover gaskets and they often need to be replaced annually; this seems a bit odd to me? Presumably, if fitted correctly and undisturbed, they should last for some years?
Just wondering if any other experiences of this?
Cheers,
Ian

Done mine a few years ago now, and I haven’t had any problems, although it was the M52 engine but I’m sure it is a similar item.
Maybe ha just said that to cover the leak?

With the M44/M43 its important to replace the rubber gaskets on the bolts. They harden with age and lose their 'spring'.
If not replaced the cover will leak fairly soon. If replaced the cover doesn't leak.
Often not done, because if you don't know how, they're a total pain. And just the cover gasket is cheaper! Quite easy to do though really, better to watch youtube to see the technique, than me try to describe it.
