Getting the Zed out of the garage this morning noticed rear light lens cracked, a scape along a third of the rear bumper and 2 largish chips back to bumper base layer. :arghh: They weren't there yesterday morning and the only place its been parked inbetween was a private gym car park for ~2 hours.
Trying to get access to car park CCTV recording but even if it shows anything that will be full of obstacles..:bashhead:

Could source a replacement lense and repair bumper paintwork myself but I know I'll never get the right match. Insurance excess is £150 so somewhat annoyed that some irresponsible ****hole will cost me that and a load of time!! :rage:

That's carp junco, there are some selfish pr...s about. Wouldn't you just love to catch one of them. Nearly 2 years ago an eastern European who lives in the next village to us spun his car and totalled the wall outside my house. I had bits from his car , found out who he was and where he lived within 2 days and the Police did F ....... all. My blood hasn't cooled yet mate, I sympathise.:mad::mad::mad::mad:

last week went to the shopping mall, found a parking space on my own one side no parking the other side a closed bay, got back to my car found a woman with kids getting into there car on the no parking bay and a van squeezed into the closed bay, while i watched the woman and kids get into there car making sure they did not open there doors onto my car the van drove of, i might add they were plenty of parking so no need for them to park were they should not, something to do with herding i believe, or my car as a giant magnet on it  any way when i got home the van had opened his door onto my wheel arch dented and broke the paint:(

Sorry to hear of your troubles Jonco, I have an offside rear light cluster that you can have if that helps, it has orange indicators, let me know if you need it.

Cheers

Brian

Don't use your insurance, a bumper repainting should come in at about your excess

Thanks - have contacted insurance (Saga) and have agreed that I can look for private quotes first. It may not need full bumper spray - depends if they can blend in repair. Also thanks BrianH - will keep that in mind.
Have spoken to gym manager ( who also happens to be an old friend) and the area is covered by CCTV but they have just installed a new recording system and she doesn't yet know how to look at history - waiting for an expert.

Thanks for other comments guys - I knew there would be similar stories but you have to let off steam somewhere - oops - sorry Joey - raw nerve.;)

ha ha ha....laugh at the poor sod with the broken Z...;)

if you remove the bumper it should be an easy repair and do-able with aerosols..I have had a good result like this on several occasions..

happy to help if you can get it here..or talk you through it if you want to keep your no claims..

p.s jonco we have exactly the same engine, trans and year..

have you replaced your coolant hoses?, because you really don't want the agg I have right now..!

Love a sense of humour!
Thanks for offer/advice - have done the front lower skirt myself previously due to chipping and it looks ok on general view but I know there's a shading difference. Had the doors and rear bumper done professionally a few years and they struggled to get the colour blend - Hellrot (314) is a swine to match.
With regard to cooling system I went through a saga last year with pump/stat change and then an expansion tank lower seal leak. During this I removed and inspected hose inners and they were ok. When I do next coolant change I will change hoses as well.

UPDATE - more grrr!!

CCTV only had car in frame for 30mins of 2hr stay and good old sod's law it did not pick up culprit!
On closer inspection of damage noted that boot lid was also distorted and there was a lump next to BMW badge so decided to go through insurance.
Damage does doesn't look that much does it? Insurer approved £1066 repair.
Body shop attempted to straighten boot and it cracked! New boot lid now ordered from Germany - 1 week delay and bill up to £1600 -1700 - fortunately approved.

Sad thing is that next year your insurance will hike up as you have had a claim , even with no claims bonus they still put up the price.:(

True Brian - I've got no claims protection which in theory I don't lose until third claim in 5 years - in practice you are absolutely right.

Me thinks, best to drive a Landrover with an RSJ as a front bumper,Mike, usually wins respect!!!!:ymdevil:

Several years ago, a teenager opened a rear car door onto the rear wing of our Silver Z3, just as we were driving off. The door ended up wedged on the wing, so we didn't know whether to move forward or backwards, with an awful 'scraunching' sound, we freed ourselves, only to find this enormous dent, which was really deep because the right angle corner of the offending door dug right in!!! We claimed off their insurance and had the whole wing replaced by a tried and tested body guy, but the Zed was never the same after that, as we developed a leak in the boot, which we were convinced was because of what had happened!!!
