somewhat surprised to see ‘Made in China’ on my box of new Brembo brake discs (which were ordered from a German company and all).
Good price at £38.64 each for a 316mm disc with the coating. Was even cheaper than ECP on a sale...

Hopefully it’s like Apple or Samsung or German made cars in China - eg made in China but to German standards and under German factory supervision.

Anyhow, goes nicely with my BC racing made in China suspension, Hankook tyres (probably made somewhere there too) and of course my American made ‘German’ car

Just can’t compare with the overheads over that way. Cheap premises and cheap labour.

I put Brembos on all four corners a few months ago. Never looked at where they were made. Bought them because its a good known name and the cost was good. As cheap as odd named brands.

Quality was good and I am happy with them.

Didn't know that but not sure I'd even thought about where they were made. They're my choice of discs because of the painted hubs that don't rust and because (I think) they must be Brembo kit on my modern 3 Series and that stops well :)

I think Brembo have much to lose if the China made stuff is no good. Sometimes companies will buy into or actually setup their own operations in China. But certainly you would expect Brembo to be made to their usual high standard wherever.

Funnily enough I was reading earlier that a Chinese aircraft company called Comac is likely to become the 3rd major supplier (after Boeing & Airbus). But their product is not great at the moment but will catch up soon enough.

Many of the major component manufacturers have established manufacturing plants in China over the last 20 years or so. This is partly due to the lower costs but also because that’s where they need to be to supply the rapidly growing Chinese vehicle manufacturers. Just google Brembo China.

I also wonder if the companies over there don't get taxed so highly as here in the UK?

And not just tax, all the other costs our government make companies pay.

When I closed my albeit small business 11 years ago I paid all my Vat, taxes, business rates, employer contributions etc...

The last straw was the local council visiting and telling me my business rates will be going up.
