Brake Pad Wear Sensor.

Hi all,
Quick question, are the wear sensors which clip into the brake pad interchangeable (are all brands the same shape and fit any pad)?

I recently priced some up at ECP and I think they where £7.00 each, that was trade though, but they look like they fit the whole range

Same on my wife's e87 as the z3

all the pads I have changed have the same size/shape hole. wouldn't know if the sensors are all the same though as I removed mine. nothing beats your own eyes.

I think pad end is the same but not sure about the plug on other end. I bought some for mine on eBay think they were about ten quid.

I stopped fitting them to my car as I went through too many sets pads #skinflint #scrooge

the problem with devises like these is people rely on them to tell you when something is getting dangerous or at least on its last legs, I have a similar issue with sally car, she needs some kind of tyre warning sensor to check her tyres, on at least two occasions (while parked at the supermarket on full lock) I have spotted that they were down to canvas at the front.
I once watched someone trying to top up there oil through the dipstick hole but then if no one has shown you how do you know these things, agreed - but I just cant help thinking stuff like this is a false sense of security.

maybe there good as a first line of defence, or to keep a car original.

At MOT time wouldn’t the tester pick it up as not fitted?

no, as the sensors are there, I just joined the wires together.
don't know what Sean has done though, I doubt an MOT tester would actually notice though as its not really a safety issue, I may be wrong.

A tester can only test what he/she can see, some wheels allow you a decent view of the pads some don't. Those that do still need you to be able to say with certainty that the pads are below 1.5mm thick ........ could you? Only if they're down to the metal in most cases.
