I was bringing my mother in law home for a BBQ earlier -- she hadn't been in a 'sports car' since 1963 she said -- it was a bit of a treat for her I have to say, as I was cooking, and I went to pick her up while the rest of the family took the 'bus' with my sis in law AND I had 3 chickens on the fire.

Anyway, took the long way from Windsor to Burnham via Eton, and on Durney Common we came across a lovely little Z on the other side of the road, thumbs up + flashed, replied to by two chaps with huge grins waving at me!

Mon in law was mightily impressed, from her 81 years old standpoint she thoroughly enjoyed the ride, even the bits were I went from 0 to 70.5mph (where applicable) with two feet on the accelerator. she loved it!

Ahaha bit of both. I was cooking, I had potatoes, *3* chickens on the BBQ, took the car, drove to Windsor (about 10 minutes with bit of motorway at 70.5mph) picked up said mom-in law, floored it to 60.3mph all the way back via the smaller road, making as much noise as I could under the 2 bridges (as any god-fearing zedder would!) and came back within a total of 1/2 hour JUST right to turn my chickens!

Sounded like fun. Just curious, ....potatoes on the grill?...Baked Potatoes? I cut them up and roast them in the oven with salt, pepper, roasemary and a little olive oil, but I never really made baked potatoes on the grill 'cause I thought they would take too long to cook..........Frankie

Ah I do have a trick with potatoes -- I use a kettle BBQ, with all the coal on one side. On the other side I put Alu trays with medium sized potatoes. On TOP of that I use the normal big cooking grid and have the chickens on, and they drip on... the Alu trays with the potatoes. Works wonder. Wouldn't work with BIG potatoes but baby/medium size works very, very well and they cook in the chicken's fat.

Wish I took a pic earlier then, it was a pretty impressive BBQ I have to say :) -- I do prep the chickens as well - I use a mix of Olive Oil/Ground black peper, dried herbs and ground garlic in more or less equal proportions to coat the chickens. I cut any strings they might be coming up with as well, and I 'p*****' them all over to help the juice flow.

And yes, Windsor & Eton are nice -- I'd be very happy touring people around the back roads (which i know like my back pocket) anytime, so feel free!

That's the pictures I get to take -- I know i'm very lucky!

Thanks for the reply. I often regret cooking with a gas grill and this is one of those times.............Frankie
