Hi all,

I have a BMW Z4 23i sDrive E89 2010 and I have been having an issue with the alarm and the roof. I am not aware of any flooding anywhere within the car.

Firstly, with the Alarm, when I lock the car (one click) the alarm will go off after around 5 seconds and randomly over night when left. This seems to be fine when the key is clicked twice. I have heard of similar issues and with the bonnet being the cause, albeit, I have had the bonnet sensor disconnected.

As for the roof, when I turn the car on, there is an instant roof red warning sign that appears and a flashing red button by the convertible button. When I try put the roof down, it won’t go down and same goes for the window. Again, there seems to a common fault with this and I am not sure if this is to do with a sensor or not.

I am looking to see if anyone has knowledge in these faults and what can be done getting it repaired and cost wise?

many thanks,

That's an odd one IME. You really need to get a decent code reader on the car otherwise it is just guesswork TBH. But it does sound like it's not going to be simple, or cheap.

Thanks for the reply. I had the the car at a specialist today and the alarm issue could be caused by the microwave sensor and the Hydraulic cylinder for the roof. However, won’t know for definite until car is stripped and that is going to cost an arm and leg on its own.

Is that because you can't do any of this for yourself?

Tony.
