Wow, you don't come across 15 year old cars in this condition very often. Does look totally original with even the tool kit and first aid kit all present and correct! Someone's going to have to love it a lot to pay that price though I imagine

That's about the nearest you will ever get to the experience of a showroom fresh 3.0. If that price is negotiable then I think the price isn't so outrageous, especially when you think what these cars were new...the best interior colour combo too, very nice indeed.

That does look lovely, and being Adrian Blyth it'll be a proper car.

That's one hell of a car. Lived in Jersey so I wonder what the underside is like though. Salt air. ?

Yup, totally agree on the showroom freshness. Nice to see a well written description for once on Autotrader. As for the price, difficult to say as that's almost the price the ///Ms are going for...

Hideous as may be, but if any 3.0 Sport is going to get close to that then this is probably one of the few that might!

I have to agree the price is optimistic, but you never know.

I have a similar car and paid around half of what they're asking.

But I did wait a long time for one to come up for sale.

It's a different market for this class of car. Someone well heeled will happily pay out for a weekend car he perceives no agro from and will be close in condition to his 3 year old X6. Or for his little collection of classic cars in his 12 bay garage. He won't bother checking prices or if he does he won't be ar*ed to shop around.

Not knocking that type of person or dealer - just saying. This is why BMW dealers put big money on Z3s deemed fit for their showroom. We are not the customers for this type of car I'm afraid.

But the good news is we will get 100 times more enjoyment from our cars which typically cost 25% of this one.

It's worth £3.5k according to a recent post on another thread. I wonder if you'd manage to get an insurance company to agree to a £13.5k valuation

I'm always intrigued as to WHY when ever a reasonable Z3 goes up for sale at a price that is attempting to increase the value of a possible future classic; there is a rumbling from fellow Zed owners in an attempt to drag the price back down to 'bargain basement'

I value my Zed for its looks and driving experience, but equally I like to think that the car is being appreciated by all, not only in the former but value as well.

I'm not trying to in flame any ones thoughts and each to their own; but just raising the question as I'm intrigued to the benefit of trying to hold down the value of an appreciating classic.

Unless an agreed value is in writing an insurance company will try to pay out a figure from glasses guide/Cap valuation.

So it's important to get these cars insured correctly.

All very interesting as my car is the same model as this but with only 17,000 miles from new, I must say that it is fantastic to drive and feels like a brand new car. Guess at the end of the day anything is only worth what someone else is prepared to pay!

Depends on how you look at it. You can't buy a decent new car for £14K. A £30K car will likely be worth £10K in 3 years time. Buy this, do 10K miles a year for 3 years and the depreciation (the major cost to new car owners) will be relatively minuscule. And you will have had much less capital employed and much more fun.:)

Looks lovely but my main concern would be the fact that it's a Jersey car. Living on a island that 9 by 5 miles it's not been worked at all in 20 years unless it's been across the water which with that mileage I doubt. I imagine there will be a lot of perished rubbers etc need replacing internally and externally by now.

To be fair, any car of that age is still going to need a lot of work. We’ve seen some “well maintained” zeds of that age that need major intervention as well. Only going to get worse, but this does look in great condition from the ad, but that is never a good indicator either!

Fully agree with this comment, but would hope that a thorough PDI and the sellers reputation would mitigate most worries. Definitely worth the buyer engaging a knowledgeable independent before committing.
