Hey just got a 2001 Z3 2.2L was looking at doing a cat back mod on it and wondering if the M54B22 uses the same exhaust as the M54B25

You might struggle to find that answer here, we never got the M54B25 here only in Z4 form.

Your best bet would be to check part number on realoem.

Are you thinking the exhaust goes with the engine rather than the car? Obviously the B25 was used in other BMWs in U.K. But not Z3 as Lee says. The exhaust is custom to the car not engine. And does vary between 6 cylinder Z3s as well. Hope that helps and I’m not barking up wrong tree with question.

Assuming that you live in the UK, or a developed country, you seem to want a lot of grief in exchange for a small gain in power which you will seldom use! A comparative small power increase could probably be more easily gained by a good remap.

Removing both catalytic converters and replacing them with straight pipes and Lambda probes is not straightforward, or guaranteed to make an improvement, and it would be a reason for failure of an MoT or equivalent (TuV, Controle Technique etc) in any civilised country.

This sounds like a victory for enthusiasm over improvement, and would be best left until you can use maximum power for more than a few seconds at a time . . .

The M54B22 and the M54B30 use the same exhaust so I assume the M54B25 would be the same.
