With the collection of Davesport2.2 @Bazza dropped his low owner and low mileage 2.8 in for some powdercoated love. The underside of this car is already in great shape so powdercoating parts will only make it all shinny.

It only took 1 hour 30mins to remove the rear subframe. Very nearly beat our record.

Normal tear down commenced. We have a set in stock ready and waiting to be fitted. These arms and beam will be stripped and sent away for the next Zed.

It takes longer to strip down the subframe than it does to remove it. Bearings and Dust shields will both be replaced for new. New Febi beam bushes.

Under side is in good condition.

It’s been a busy few days on the Zed. Between building arms and painting various brackets and chasing up lost items in the post she’s very nearly done.

Old beam and swing arms stripped ready to be powder coated. Also stuck the power flex bush in ready to be painted. It actually takes longer to strip a whole rear subframe down than it does to remove it from the car.

While everything was apart it makes sense to clean everything up and give it a fresh coat of paint. Luckily this Zed has a extra sealant on the underside so everything’s still in very good condition.

The later half of today we stuck the subframe back in and got everything torqued up. I couldn’t help myself and got most of the braking system back together we also fitted some of @Mazza quality tank straps, these are really perfect. Bazza wanted some bling for the underside and opted for red braided lines, we got a kit in red from Hel. All looking very fancy now, only a few bits to finish ready for this weekend.

Test drive done and another happy zedder. Bazza’s biggest differences were the stability in the cornering and the brake pedal firmness. The car gives you far more confidence to push on.

Now worthy of the shed sticker. :)

A massive thank you to the Zed Shed HQ, led by Lee & Gaz my car has now been transformed, after the back beam refurbishment
the car now drives something like it did when new and I cant believe how different it is, even in selecting gears now seems effortless,
the car glides round corners and feels planted as it should and on the drive home I notice that at a good pace the car did not wander at all,
this now completes a full bottom end rebuild from front to back running gear, brakes suspension and sills, even the hand brake works 100% now, this car is a low mileage Zed I thought was in great condition IT IS NOW.

THANKS LADS BRILLIANT WORK. she's home
