Ambitious. I have a 2001 in Sienna Red with 64k. I would bite someone's hand off for that.
Those are F3* wheels, so around 20 years newer than the car. And look decidedly grubby.Agree on the wheels too.
There is a reason why horrible colours are 'rare'. It's because hardly anyone ordered them from new.but it might appeal to some people for its rarity value.
That was after he got all posh, he previously had an old Ford van. That was after starting out with a motorbike and sidecar. Not a colour for me I'm afraid, but it might appeal to some people for its rarity value. Each to their own.
For those of a certain age who remember Blaster Bates, he had a Volvo Estate to carry his gear around which was a Mustard colour which he called the "Flying Sh**e", could almost describe this car.
When you're selling a car you don't need everyone to like the colour. You only need one. There is a reason why horrible colours are 'rare'. It's because hardly anyone ordered them from new.
It always makes me smile when I see 'rare' coloured cars for sale, usually for more money than popular colour. Making out they are somehow special.
No-one wanted them when new, so why would anyone want them when they are old?
They did a brown colour on the E89....Havana Brown....only a handful were sold (not an individual colour or limited edition). If ever one comes up for sale you can guarantee it will be cited as 'rare'. They still don't sell!
Same with the God-awful 'Atacama Yellow' on the E89. Rare? Yes. Popular? No.. which is why they are rare.
The E86 Z4 was sold in 'Sepang Bronze'. It's Brown! So few were sold that they now seem to be coveted by enthusiasts. Still brown!
Yellow and brown cars are just not popular and haven't been since 1975 (and green, unless it's old and British). But in 1975 everybody had brown wallpaper in their Council houses too!
Yes I remember his words well describing his early years after he left the RAF. I’ve just looked up his Wikipedia page, a good reminder of things past, like how Knickerbrook Corner at Oulton Park got its name. I’ve got his LPs up in the loft somewhere, have dig them out for a listen sometime. That was after he got all posh, he previously had an old Ford van. That was after starting out with a motorbike and sidecar.
Tony.
