Apple Air Tag tracker

Has anyone else considered locking an Apple AirTag into the one of the Z3 cubby holes and using it as a tracker? Apple claim the battery is good for six months and all your car has to do is get within 100m of an iPhone when missing, I’m considering it, it’s a lot cheaper than a tracker!

I’ve been playing with this idea for a while.. cheap alternative to actual tracker, but doesn’t the person nearby get a notification that there’s an AirTag nearby and then they can then prompt a sound out of it
