Hi Folks,

Not been on in a while but been looking for a the Z3 still, what I've noticed is that the prices are quite strong but there seems to be a disparity between the 1.9's and 3.0 litres.

I mentioned in my introductory post that I was after a 3.0/2.8 but my circumstances have changed now and I need a Z3 as a daily driver bad weather and good.

I've test driven the 3.0 wow it was quick and to be honest it was a bit of a bargain at £2700 with service history, because of my change I've been looking for a 1.9 and found this one http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...00/page/1/postcode/ne136pz/make/bmw?logcode=p
It's quite close to where I live and I wondered if you people thought it was worth the money.

On the face of it it looks mint with all of the service history and low mileage.

Hi Brian,

Looks a tidy looking car from the pictures. The price I think reflects the low mileage. The tonneau covers and wind deflectors are worth around £100 each second hand so that's good if they are included ;)

Certainly worth going and having a good look over and test drive.

Thanks Gaz, I was surprised by the insurance cost too, I'm 49 never made a claim the premium for this was £144 for 8k per year but without legal assistance that was an extra £20 , the family Nissan Note costs more than that.

Your advice is greatly appreciated

Agree with Gaz and those look like AC Schnitzer roll hoops to me, if so, worth a few quid.....

I did wonder if they were Schnitzer hoops or not Mike. This is a better picture, taken from a sale thread. If they are genuine they tend to go for around £650 or so.

It does look a nice example, I noticed the same in the summer when I purchased mine. Prices ranged from £2500 to £3500 for a nice example of that age and they were getting snapped up within days. I too tried the 2.8 and they went like stink, for me I decided a 2.0 was more than I needed. I believe that I probably paid top dollar for my 1999 2.0 with 70k on the clock and a few minor items, but was also impatient and it was a birthday present to myself.
Your example looks great, low mileage is always a bonus and if it has the service history even better - got to be worth a look. I hope its a beauty!
Great bunch of guys here and they have bags of good advice and help too!:)

Brian, go try it. You will know. It's that simple.:) When you climb out of it and can't stop grinning you will understand what I mean. I bought mine from Penistone and had a run around the village and when we got back to the guy's house Shirl said " how much deposit are you leaving?"

Tony.

Hi Brian
Yes stick with it. I missed two before I acquired mine, one by an hour and the other by ten minutes.
On advise from my financial adviser (the wife) I came up in price and got just what I was looking for.
The car is out there and you will find it.

For what it's worth, I bought my car in the UK and had it exported to Canada. I passed on a lot of cars before buying mine. I had no one to check it out for me and relied more on building a relationship with the owner. Every stage was done using my iPhone. I had a valet service decontaminate the car and he provided 156 pics of every step as he went along which confirmed no rust. The car finally showed up and runs strong and I'm replacing the top and have replaced the tires both of which I was aware of. It needed a brake light to safety, that was it. It's a 97 1.9 boston green with 74k and I paid £1550. So be patient, drive the car and if possible get it checked out. HTH and good luck, JIM
