As I said in my progress said I would start a new thread about another issue we encountered while changing the clutch on Rosie. Lee has previously said I can be a little aggressive on my drive train, but I'm fairly sure that I could not manage to destroy a guibo bush in 6 months and in less than 3,000 miles.
When we carried out the sub frame refresh Lee had a brand new guibo bush which had been ordered for his Dads 2.8, and was the wrong part. It was however the correct part for Rosie, so on it went. Lee thinks this part was ordered off eBay.
The pictures at the end show there wasn't much life left in it, and would probably have failed relatively soon. It's in a considerably worse condition than the one we replaced it for which had done 105,000 miles. The drive shaft detaching itself from the gearbox at speed could have been rather messy
GSF had a replacement in stock and a Febi branded one was fitted in it's place. Be careful out there when ordering your car parts peeps!
For those who don't know what this part is, it's a big rubber bush which sits between the gearbox and the prop shaft. Item #1 below.
How it looked once we removed it.
