Advice on wheel sizing?!

HI there,

I have just bought a 1998 1.9 z3. I am very excited to get started on it and make it look good!

My z3 is currently fitted with the classic pepper pot wheels. However, I am debating changing them to the BBS RS style alloys. The previous owner fitted the wheels with some brand new goodyears which are 205/60r15 which i would like to keep to save money. Therefore, I have to stick to the 15" sizing, but cannot find many examples of this fitted. I am worried they may look odd at this size as I know they are typically fitted with a 17"+ low profile tyre.

Could anyone give me advice on this... whether it is a good idea or not? I found an example which may be a "15 wheel but cannot tell. photo is attached.

Thank you and I am looking forward to being apart of the community :)

Hi and welcome from me in Scotland :welcome:.
The only 15' s you really see on zeds would be the ones you have.
Majority of zeds were on various styles of 16" wheel with a 225/ 55/16 tyre
17" wheel usually staggered ( back wheel wider than front ) 225/45/17 front and 245/40/17 rear.
You would be better off finding a nice self of 16" with tyres sets come up fairly often at reasonable prices the ones in the picture look like 16 that style of wheel tend to visually look smaller than they actually are
Personally I think a 15" bbs style wheel may look quite small .
But it is your zed do what you think you are happy with as every person has different tastes and preferences.
Stephen.

Hi and welcome from London, stick with your wheels and get a few miles out of the tyres and look for a 2nd hand set of 17s with tyre they don't fetch a great deal of money.

Thank you for the advice. I think I will do what you say and go for 16"+

Hi and welcome to the forum from Bognor Regis :welcome:
I have a 1998 1.9 and mine came with 15” Wolfrace, found some cheap 16” , got them refurbed and new tyres.
Much better now.

Welcome, mine came with 18" which appear to be from either a 1 Series or 2 Series. Somebody also said they may just be replicas.
It is running 255/35/18 rear and 225/40/18 front. It does tramline a little. I think the 255 rears are way to big but I do love how it looks overall

Hi @Toby Mills, :welcome: to the forum from me too in Staffordshire. Sorry, I can't help with your question as mine are both on 17" style 78s. Plenty of advice above though:thumbsup:
