Yesterday whilst eating our lovely roast dinner :p
The door bell went ;)
Alan went to the door , and a lady was their asking for help with her car :)
She asked if we'd got a Jack as her tyre had gone down ;)
So poor Alan went out in the cold and rain and helped her :)
He nearly got the wheel off but couldn't get the last nut out as she hadn't got the locking key for it and she couldn't find it in her car ;)
20 mins later he came in to a cold tea :(
How kind is my man :)
Well done Alan ;)

I'm guessing Alan managed to get the wheel exchanged. Well done.

He's great @Shelly, but it's a great shame he's an Arsenal fan!

Well, I hope its a lesson to us all... keep your locking wheel nut in the boot... unless some of us are classed as the nut driving the Zed.. before someone happens to mention that one @M666BMG =))

and well done for being a good neighbour.

The moral to this story is " Throw the locking nuts away" No one nicks wheels these days.

Tony.

When I bought my car the locking wheel nut was missing, lost by the BMW dealer. I complained and a technician came out to my car with a whole set. He tried each one until he found the right one, and gave me that. If you've got access to one of these sets you could have whichever wheels you like.

We had exactly the same happen about a month ago, Shelly, the couple who live next are ex Sally Army, lovely people, the wife appeared at the door just the same, asking if Mike could help her hubby change the wheel.
.
Out Mike went with all his gear, the spare wheel was stored under the car and all the bolts were rusty as hell and like your neighbours, he didn't even have a clue that he had a locking wheel nut key, never mind where it was or what it looked like!!!

Then yet again was the obligatory last wheel nut syndrome, but then the battery gave out on Mike's impact wrench. so he had to get that last nut off by brute force and ignorance!!! :banghead:

About an hour & a half later he returned, frozen stiff, mumbling about the chap going to the tyre fitter, saying "I told him to go slowly, because he didn't have the right wheel bolts for the steel spare wheel, which was so rusty, it would not locate properly on the hub!!!:(

It just shows how unenthusiastic some people can be about their cars!!!

I have one in all my cars, very good stuff on the proviso you don't have a sidewall flat.

Only ever used it once on 19" rim on my Merc, forgot about it and drove around for ages with the stuff still in there..!!
No problem what so ever.
People say it knackers the tyre, not true, it is just that most garages can't be bothered with removing the gunk and want you to buy a new one.
My garage did, plugged the hole, tyre back on the car.

Mate of mine had it in his Turbo Nutter bike for months, no issue. Don't condone that though.
