I forgot to share these pictures which I grabbed as we left work a week last Saturday. This Bond Bug is owned by one of the commercial fitters at work, it's his pride and joy.

My mate's mum had a Bond Equipe we often had a lift in. That was rare back then in the late 70s/early 80s. They must be like gold dust now. Bright red it was.

They were based on Triumph running gear if I recall right Rob?

Yeah, I remember the school librarian had two of these in 1978, I remember thinking it looked pretty cool, big wedge of red Leicester cheese, couldn't understand why Roger moore had one if he had the White underwater Lotus.

I have to say I know very little about the Bond Equipe technically. I just remember my friend being very proud of it and it being a treat to either ride in it or take a peak where it was parked up in their garage. It would only have been about 10-15 years old then but was clearly already marked out as something special by the family.

His father was a senior manager at Brown Brothers and the whole family loved their cars. Brown Brothers owned a veteran car at the time and his father used to drive it in the London to Brighton. He brought it home one day and took us for a ride in it. Nice!

Then a couple of years ago as part of my historical research into Scalextric I discovered the man who was head of R&D throughout the 60s. If Scalextric made it in the 1960s he either designed it, thought it up or oversaw it. He was still alive and well in his 90s. He was a veteran of the 1950-80s toy market, you name it and he had worked for them. He also did freelance work and a chance conversation meant he showed me a photo of a model he had been commissioned to make for Brown Brothers.

Yep, it was the same car. And just take a look at the masterpiece he created.
