Mmmm. Not sure.

We know that in 4 stroke engines there's usually unburned fuel and air left in the cylinder that just gets chucked out the exhaust.

Porsche's idea to compress that unburned stuff and ignite it to get another power stroke sounds to me like a fair way to reduce the amount of unburned fuel being chucked out the back. But will that extra power stroke actually deliver much power?

I watched a u video on it and it was pretty interesting. Complicated but if they can get reliablity out of it there is merrit to the idea.

The strokes are not equal length and it has ports in the liner farther down so the second firing stroke does get additonal air like a two stroke engine. Very complicated and I imagine it wont be a small light weight engine.

Yes, the four-stroke engine that makes that lovely noise is VERY inefficient. Six strokes are better, but infinite strokes are even better. Most call it a jet engine. The problem with the jet engine is that it is only really any good at one speed.
