Has anyone here done a 3D scan of a BMW Z3? Or just the backside of it?

I want to design a replica of the aero kit boot spoiler and maybe 3d print it.

Thanks

I remember seeing model scans on one of the printing sites ages ago, unsure how scalable they would be.
I have tried scanning an ACS splitter and the rear spoiler, (BMW by Zender), with a scan lizard multiple times with no useable results. Tried photogrammetry via Trnio with no success whatsoever. Going to have another go with Kira engine when I get the time.
If you want them, I have a pair of rear spoiler ends, you can have them for whatever the carriage would be. I just have to find them.

My son has got a 3d machine , I’ll ask him if maybe he can find a download pattern for a Z3 to make 🙂

Interesting question, so had a look online and found this :-

Obviously I am not sure if it will be of any use ?
That’s not the one I saw, it had a hardtop. Had a look but it’s not turning up in a google search.

I tried using multiple 3d models I found online but none of them were accurate, the boot profile was always very different.
I also tried scanning my own car with a borrowed iPhone, but my car is black the surface is too shiny, a combination that is terrible to 3d scan.
I have to get some kind of powder to make it dull and also add some 3d scan reference stickers and try again.

I have an iphone 14 pro and would be happy to have a go at scanning my car (pre-facelift, narrow body) for you? Do you have a recommended scanning app?

It's Atlanta Blue and pretty dirty at the moment so might help get around the issues with your shiny black one?

I use Attblime scan spray, wonderful stuff, just needs one light coat to give a matt surface.
I don’t recommend Telescan, it works but requires clean up and it’s difficult to remove from hands and clothes.
Attblime sublimates, various time dependent types.
Possible to use dry shampoo, even athletes foot powder, anything really that will leave a matt surface. I have scan tags/flags on their way, I’ll have a go with the Lizard when I get them.

Some progress,
I was able to buy a 3d Scan of the boot, so I will try to design the spoiler based on it.

Here is a picture of it:
