3.5 Z3 In Nottingham

Spotted a Blue Z3 today in Nottingham City Centre. Had an M badge and also a Chrome 3.5 badge next to the Z3 badge Don't think he is a forum member, if he is then i dont think he should own up

I agree the small 4 cylinder but how do you recognise the year. The tail pipe gives away the 4 cylinder but what gives away that it is a 97?
