Sadly I need to move SK02 FLY on as I'm not going to get the opportunity to finish the project I started nor enjoy the car when it is finished, too many other things on, my sons karting taking off and taking up all my spare time and the space it's taking up in my garage being premium space that I need for workshop space.
It's with a heavy heart that I am doing this as I've never actually driven it properly and I was looking forward to using it!
I bought it late June '16 and have spent the last 8 - 10 months getting it to a standard where I'd be happy with it being an occasional car that I'd take for a drive... it's now very near being ready for MOT and needs only a small amount of work to complete.
Over and above the standard car from BMW where it came with LSD, heated sport seats, aircon etc. It's had a lot of money put into it in my time and I'm not very good at selling stuff so I've summarised below what has been done to date:
Mechanical -
- New Bilstein suspension all round (b8F / b6R) with apex -40mm springs.
- New front bottom arms with ball joints, new drop links, and new bushes.
- New discs and pads (Brembo) all round.
- Refurbished genuine AC Schnitzer type 3 17" wheels with new correctly sized tyres. Premium brand tyres too not cheap crap.
- Complete fluid flush and change (oils, fluids and coolant).
- All belts changed for new versions.
- Water pump changed.
- Crank sensors x2 changed.
- Forced induction kit fitted (original will come with car too with new panel filter).
- Adjustable front strut brace.
- Fixed Bertini rear top and bottom brace.
- Various new bolts and fixings.
- 20mm rear hubcentric wheel spacers with correct longer length wheel studs.
Bodywork:
- Outer cills replaced with new versions bought from BMW direct and undersealed / repainted. New fixings and accessories used to refit.
- Inner cills prep'd and weatherproofed / undersealed. I can say with confidence that this z3 has no rust on it underneath!
- Front and rear bumpers repainted.
- Side panels repainted.
- Various car park dings and dents removed.
- Foam front bumper lip spoiler.
- Headlights refurbished to remove cloudiness.
- overall the balance of the exterior is ok. Panels align well however it's a 15 year old car and it has small areas of imperfection which I had intended to address when I had the whole car re painted however there are no major issues. I think the phrase is that it has a few marks and scuffs commensurate with its age and mileage.
Roof (blue in colour) - works as it should and is leak free but it is the original roof so it's seen 15 years of life so it's a bit threadbare in areas and has a few scars.
Interior;
- Has the desirable sport seats which have been deep cleaned and treated to well deserved TLC. They work as they should in terms of movement and are heated.
- Upgraded M sport steering wheel from Royal steering wheels.
- brand new genuine mats.
- tonneau.
- mesh wind deflector with the correct clips etc.
- upgraded DAB stereo but will come with original.
mechanically it's in good condition, nice and tight, no leaks or clunks, clutch, box etc all as should be.
There are other things I've no doubt forgotten about that I've done to it or had done to it.... list goes on as they say!
Comes with original bmw folder with books including service history. Two keys. V5 in my name.
Mileage - 121k.
Car is presently sorned.
The car in my ownership has been dry stored and hasn't spent a night out in the cold... so she's used to a nice warm cosy garage and ideally I'd like it to go to someone whos going to spend the last little bit of time finishing off and getting it on the road.
For an MOT it will need:
- warning light reset for SRS / airbag as seats and SW have been off for refurb. Might need a new airbag ring again no big deal.
- fly by wire throttle fault addressed which I believe could be a potentiometer.
It will need trailered away as it's obviously not road legal presently and the throttle issue needs sorted.
I've way more money in the car than I'm asking but I want someone to enjoy the car and that to me is more important than the £'s... so I'm offering it here for a bargain £3000. Please note the car is in Edinburgh.
