How funny. I was talking to a sales rep this afternoon and he asked if I when to a local car show last weekend. He then went on to tell me about this E Type in red and how wonderful it looked.

I think an E Type is probably on a lot of peoples wish list (certainly mine), but I wonder just how much fun they are actually to live with? you know, being old, British and Jaguar ...

I wouldn't want to own one Niall, not even sure I'd like to drive one anymore. We've all been thoroughly spoiled and I think the best thing is to just look and keep wondering mate. Like an old girlfriend :baa

Definitely a whole lot more trouble than a sorted Z, and that's the reason I would not touch one with a barge pole, Sad but true.

Dream cars of this ilk are to be admired not driven/owned less the bubble burst and shatters the dream. Just my view :)

Over the years i have driven a number of old classics and i would agree with Tony
You have to be dedicated to your car as most of these old motors require much constant tinkering to keep in top condition and compared to modern cars the driving experience is shocking in comparison.

You could buy a fleet of Zs for the cost of a well preserved/restored S1 or S2. If I had the spare dosh, i'd have one though.:)

Shout away. I've never been a fan, I think they are out of proportion and just look nose heavy. Love old XJ's from the 60's and 70's and most German stuff from the same era but just can't like the E-type sorry. :(

Whilst on my travels across the south of the UK I see plenty of 60's cars on the side of the road with the bonnets up, and sad to say that a high proportion of them are E type Jags and Triumph Stags.

Like many people my age, I used to lust after both, but wouldn't want one now. Give me an old Merc any day

This is why I would never go near one of these.....

Jag XJS Block.

I had two of those when I owned my garage. A 3.6 which was fine and as pictured there a 5.3. Nightmare and troublesome. Had several XJ 4.0 and they were great. Had the XJR 4.0 supercharged which was superb.
