108 Wheels - split rim refurbishment

Hi anyone interested in a set of 18" 108s?
They are need of refurbishment and not suitable in the present condition for use.
They are split ready for refurb. The rims still have tyres on but not great ones.
All the bolts are present.

I now have no use for them and they are in my way so need shot of them. PM me if interested.

Hi Niall, was looking at mine earlier as I was checking my tyre pressures and wondered if it would be easier to remove the bolts one by one while the car was still wearing them. I could clean and lubricate the threads and replace these. I understand splitting this type of wheel is a fair % of the refurb price.
Did you split them and if so how easy did the screws come out please?

I think they all differ Tony, 2 of mine where a pig, bolts very tight and 3 problematic ones, 2 snapped and one rounded, the other 2 wheels where a piece of cake, once the bolts are out it takes a big hammer to get them apart

Wish I'd have seen these before they sold as I want to do another set in a different colour and have them as my summer wheels

I was advised by the refurb people that the spits should be heated before splitting?? I didnt. 3 wheels were easy one was a pig, not getting the bolts out but separating the rim & centre. But as Sean says they are all probably different.

No worries mate, would have had a problem collecting them

@Tony, I would also recommend getting them soda blasted as all the recesses tend to have some corrosion and are a bloody pain to clean out, I used a small wire brush in a drill

If and when I get them apart I'll get them done Sean, I don't have your talent mate Might mean putting the turbine style wheels back on for however long it takes. But then there's a nice strut brace I've been made aware of in the USA, and a hard top . . . . . . . . . .

Are you planning on polishing the rim

No I don't think so as it's harder to keep them nice, especially as mines a daily driver mate all year round. The salt has definitely had an effect on mine. I was going to change the wheels over but haven't got round to it! If if get them swapped I could probably get them looking something like for the summer again.

Maybe you can get an inflatable top made @ t-tony. I watched them building hot air balloons and can't see why it couldn't be adapted to the z4! JIM
