Hey everyone,

not long had a 98 m44 z3 and today was the first time I’ve gone on a long trip (175 miles) and I’m getting just under 37mpg driving at 70+mph pretty impressed with the engine! The trip computer is saying ill be able to do 420+ miles on a tank at this rate- obviously this is wishful thinking but I think certainly 350 is achievable with motorway/A roads? What’s the most you guys have been able to achieve... and more importantly the least!?

Regularly get 300 to 320 per tank in my 2.8 manual but never seen 300 miles in my 2.8 auto. I think the best has been 285 or there abouts

The M44 is a very good engine; good balance between performance and economy - much underrated by many.
Yes, I reckon it would give a Golf GTi a run for it's money

I’m averaging 25-28 mpg in my 2.8 manual. That should go about 325 miles on a tank, I think. Isn’t it a 13.5 gallon tank? I don’t ever let it get below the 1/4 line, if I can help it

My m43 has covered over 350 on a tank.
I find in general use averages around the 33-35 mpg mark.
My wife's m44 auto on the other hand averages around 28 mpg.

If I'm plodding along at a steady speed of about 60mph I'll get high 30's in my 2.8. However, on a good day it's very low 20's

Mine does 25 - 30 mpg at best, more often than not it's the lower limit. When I went on my last MOT Tester course I had a hard time convincing my Boss what he needed to pay me for fuel. It used to cost me £5 per day to go to work, £30/week.

Not sure you really want to know

Fast spirited driving, making some progress, between 35 - 38 , a little more steady gets around 42 - 44 - can be difficult though ;)
Urban work only gives about 26- 27 though.
