Spotted a very very late model Z3 on an 04 plate earlier in Telford. Looked like a 1.9 going by the exhaust. Must have been one of the last ones registered, some Z4's were registered before this.
Some cars are built and then registered later, but that was built well after what I thought production finished. Must be a pretty rare zed, last MOT showed a mileage of around 36,000 as well so low mileage.
Driver gave me a nod when I pulled up next to him, didn't have chance to have a chat or give him a card.
It'll have been sat in a compound unsold I suspect. We used to have "brand new" cars that were 3 years old and already out of warranty! Some manufacturers start the warranty from the build date and others from the registration date.
The date of manufacture on tha site is not accurate. I have just put mine in and it says 2001. It was registered March 2001 but the data plate under the bonnet says built Aug 2000. That one must have sat around a long time before being registered.
We've seen some odd late registered Z3's before. I posted a thread about an 05 registered Z3, and the story checked out on that one. Spent it's life overseas unregistered in a showroom, was returned to the UK and then registered. The guy had the paperwork and sent me pics of the V5 to back it up, can't find the thread now but it was an interesting story behind it.
Probably the same has happened with this one where it's sat around unregistered. And the build date maybe wrong on that site just to marry up with the registration date.
