BMW Z3 Protecting the rear plastic screen
Article submitted by Titan
Below is a sequence of pictures I took one morning when the car was covered in dew.
You can clearly see that it is the second roof spar (arrowed) which rubs against the rear screen causing those awful scratches and a fold line.
Although BMW produce a blanket (which hooks round onto the spars) to cover the screen, it doesn't afford any protection to the roof fabric itself.
By using a larger blanket the entire hood is prevented from rubbing against itself and those shiny spots are eliminated.
My cat blanket has caused much amusement over the years but it is a cheap and effective solution
